With the season over, Florida Gators star Wyatt Langford can turn his attention to the MLB Draft where he is expected to become a high draft pick. However, he knows that his run in the College World Series is going to stick with him for a long time.

As Langford explained, he’s disappointed by how the season ended. However, he’s also incredibly thankful for the opportunity to play in Omaha with his team.

“Obviously going through my mind right now, I’m pretty disappointed,” Wyatt Langford said. “But I mean I’m just thankful to be here. I’m thankful to have this opportunity and just to be able to play with these guys.”

Wyatt Langford was a huge part of not only how the Florida Gators made it to Omaha but how they made it to the Final. Since getting to Omaha, Langford hit three home runs for nine RBIs. He was particularly effective in Florida’s games against LSU, even though that series ended in a losing effort for the Gators.

For the season as a whole, Langford hit .373 with 21 home runs and 57 RBIs. He became a First-Team All-SEC selection and was named as a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award.

Now, as the 2023 MLB Draft approaches, he’s considered one of the top prospects in the draft. MLB Pipeline is even predicting that Langford is going to be taken by the Detroit Tigers with the third overall pick in the draft.

So, for Wyatt Langford, this was a magical season and run in Omaha. It didn’t end the way he or the rest of the team wanted it to, but that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t a great run that he has plenty of reasons to be thankful for.

Dylan Crews has plenty of respect for Wyatt Langford

Dylan Crews of LSU is one of two Tigers that may be taken in the top three of the MLB Draft alongside Florida’s Wyatt Langford. Despite the natural rivalry that these two have, Crews has tons of respect for Langford.

“He’s a great kid, great player, too. We have all the respect for him. Very special talent,” Crews said. “I think he’s going to be a Big Leaguer for a very long time. Some of the best bat-to-ball skills and power I’ve ever seen. Can really track the ball down in the outfield. I really like his game and going to hopefully play alongside of him one day. So it would be good.”
