Conrad Hussey no longer part of Florida State football program

Florida State safety Conrad Hussey is no longer with the program, according to Warchant’s Ira Schoffel. He played in 24 games over the last two seasons.
Hussey was preparing for his junior year at Florida State, though he dealt with injuries during his sophomore campaign. All told, during his two years at FSU, he totaled 40 tackles and an interception. No reason has been given for Hussey’s departure.
Hussey arrived in Tallahassee in 2023 as a highly rated a recruit. A product of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas, he was a four-star prospect and the No. 217 overall player from the cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking.
Florida State is preparing for changes on defense this year as Tony White takes over as coordinator. He inherits a unit that allowed 28 points and 385.9 yards per game before Mike Norvell made the decision to move on from former coordinator Adam Fuller.
As FSU went through its overhaul this offseason, the Seminoles brought in eight players from the transfer portal. The headliner of the group is former Houston cornerback Jeremiah Wilson, who came in as the No. 28 overall player to enter the portal this cycle, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings.

With so many new faces, it’s looking like a “new team” for Florida State, Norvell previously told On3’s Pete Nakos. He also pointed out an edge with this year’s group with new quarterback Thomas Castellanos helping lead the shift.
“When you look at college football and look at the last three years, we’ve had over 30 newcomers in each of those years,” Norvell told Nakos. “This year, slightly more, we’re looking at 40 newcomers. You have a new team. You have guys that you were a part of last year, that chose and desire to be the solution here moving forward.
“That edge, which we talked about with Tommy, that’s program-wide. That’s every individual player, coach, all of us. It’s critical in college football, the margins for success and failure are so small. What you do with the results and where you go in those moments, it’s critical for you to bring everything that you have and pour it all in. That’s something that was a huge factor for me, and the guys that we had, that returned, and the guys that you know we brought in, that was an absolute necessity that we get back to playing Florida State football. That when you watch us, when you play against us, you feel what that is, too.”
