Florida State Seminoles defensive lineman Jamorie Flagg plans on entering the Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. This comes after he spent the last two seasons with the Seminoles.

Flagg came to Florida State as a three-star recruit in the Class of 2024. He was the 1,406th-ranked player overall and the 129th-ranked defensive lineman in that recruiting cycle. A Miami native, he played his high school football at Booker T. Washington.

While in high school, Flagg did earn numerous honors. That included earning Miami Herald All-Dade 5A-IND second-team honors. Along the way, he helped Booker T. Washington to plenty of success. That included helping his team get to the regional semifinal round of 2M state playoffs as the anchor of the defensive line. Eventually, he landed at Florida State while receiving several major offers. That includes from Georgia Tech and Syracuse.

In 2024, Flagg would take a redshirt, only appearing in one game. He would see a little more playing time as a redshirt freshman in 2025, but was still mostly a depth player along the Florida State defensive line. He’ll finish his time at Florida State with just two total tackles in three appearances. He’ll have three years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

The two seasons that Flagg spent at Florida State have been very difficult ones for the Seminoles program. In both losing seasons, the Seminoles went just 2-10 in 2024 before going 5-7 in 2025. During that time, they were just 3-13 against ACC programs.

Now, head coach Mike Norvell is expected to be looking for a new way to spark the program. Given that he has heavily used the Transfer Portal in past years, it’s likely that means he’ll return there, looking to round out the roster, fill in gaps, and find a way to spark the team back to the level it was at in 2023 when Florida State won the ACC.

Changes coming to the Transfer Portal

This offseason, there are significant changes coming to the Transfer Portal. That notably includes the end of the Spring window, which is going to potentially change how players approach their decision to enter or not.

Now, there will only be one window to enter the Transfer Portal. That’s coming up in January. This is coming after the Division I Football Oversight Committee voted to make it a 10-day window after the majority of teams had ended their season. The hope was to make for a more manageable December calendar while still working within the semester system. The NCAA Division I Administration Committee initially only approved the move of the window and later approved the decision to shorten it as well.

Given how new this is, it’s hard to say how these changes will work out. However, it does mean that players won’t be able to go through spring practice before making their decision.
