Florida State running back Jaylin Lucas plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he informed On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Lucas has spent the past two seasons with the Seminoles.

He’s had a relatively small impact, though he began to make more of a dent in 2025. This season he logged 27 carries for 160 yards, as well as 11 catches for 88 yards.

Jaylin Lucas arrived at Florida State in 2024 after spending his first two seasons at Indiana. He tallied 546 yards rushing and four touchdowns in two seasons with the Hoosiers.

While Lucas has only been an occasional threat out of the backfield, he’s been very valuable as a key special teams contributor. Lucas is an excellent return man.

Across four seasons, he has notched 1,420 kickoff return yards and three kickoff return touchdowns. Notably, though, most of that production came at Indiana, where he had 44 kick returns. Jaylin Lucas has had just 11 at Florida State.

Prior to enrolling at Indiana, Jaylin Lucas was ranked as a three-star prospect and the No. 942 overall player in the class, according to the On3 Consensus. He also checked in as the No. 40 athlete in his class and the No. 40 overall player from the state of Louisiana, hailing from Houma (LA) Terrebonne.

Florida State defensive lineman to transfer

Florida State has had multiple players make their intentions to leave known in the past few days, beyond just Jaylin Lucas. Defensive lineman Jamorie Flagg also plans on entering the transfer portal, On3 has learned.

In 2024, Flagg would take a redshirt, only appearing in one game. He would see a little more playing time as a redshirt freshman in 2025, but was still mostly a depth player along the Florida State defensive line. He’ll finish his time at Florida State with just two total tackles in three appearances. He’ll have three years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

Flagg came to Florida State as a three-star recruit in the Class of 2024. He was the 1,406th-ranked player overall and the 129th-ranked defensive lineman in that recruiting cycle. A Miami native, he played his high school football at Booker T. Washington.

On3’s Dan Morrison also contributed to this report.
