ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit called Florida State the most dangerous one-loss team in the country after Friday night. Granted, the Seminoles were just upset by Virginia so perhaps they don’t feel that dangerous in the immediacy.

However, FSU has a chance to rectify any issues against Miami next weekend. So it might be a little too early to write off Mike Norvell and company.

Florida State beat Alabama to open the season and then beat up on some less than stellar non-conference opponents. Safe to say, Friday night was a bit of a shock, but it might not last long.

“I’m gonna say after last night, I think Florida State is the most dangerous one-loss team,” Herbstreit said on College GameDay. “Tennessee (might be another).”

Now at 3-1, Florida State is looking up in the standings a bit. It doesn’t help that they already have an ACC loss either.

But, Miami is next weekend, followed by winnable games vs. Pitt and Stanford before a bye week. There’s a chance to right the ship.

“You come on the road … you got to play disciplined football,” Norvell said. “And then we talked about our focus, you know, controlling things that we can control. And we had some self-inflicted issues there early in the game that you can’t have. I don’t think any bit of it was looking past it, mean, I knew you know, just with the environment …

“I knew what their energy would be, I knew what our energy was going to be and, you know, I don’t think it was anything from a lack of preparation. But you know, we did not execute like we needed to.”

Losing to Miami next week would give Florida State two conference losses and they’d be in a bigger hole trying to win the ACC and get to the College Football Playoff But a QB like Thomas Castenallos doesn’t lack confidence and will be back better than ever next week.

“I think we needed it,” Castellanos said postgame. “I think (we were) riding high, you know, feeling it, kind of smelling ourselves, feeling good. A lot of adversity. I think we’ll respond and, you know, bounce back. We have to really quick here. But I think we needed it. I think it’ll be good for us moving forward.”

Florida State is back in action against Miami next Saturday. Kickoff in Tallahassee is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on October 4th.
