Miami battling to flip back Florida State 5-star DL commit Armondo Blount

Miami Central five-star defensive lineman Armondo Blount was originally a member of the 2025 recruiting class when he committed to the Miami Hurricanes.
When he reclassified to the 2024 class a month later, he flipped his commitment to Florida State at the same time.
But the Hurricanes have not given up on this recruitment.
Miami still battling
Florida State recruiting insider Michael Langston said on The Inside Scoop football recruiting show that Miami’s staff remains in contact with Blount and will continue to battle the Seminoles until National Signing Day.
“I don’t think there’s heavy concern,” Langston said. “I think anytime there’s I’d say slight concern for me, I talk to a lot of different contacts when it comes to Armondo both from close to Armondo and people from the FSU side. And even the people from the Miami side. The consensus, a lot of it was like — look, you’ve got to watch this, you’ve got to monitor it. I think my thing is, is he going to take a visit there? Is he going to take an official visit there? We know he’s going to have one to FSU. So I think really just the key is what materializes from this stuff, this chatter. We know he’s talked with them and met with them. We know FSU has also rebuttled and stayed in contact with him. They knew it was going to be a battle until Armondo signed. It’s just what it is. A five-star in their backyard, they’re going to go after him.

“So there is a little buzz as far as at least keeping the door open,” Langston continued. “But, as of right now, I think FSU and the people around Blount feel that they still feel good about FSU. That’s kind of the consensus I got. But it’s something we’re going to have to monitor in the coming weeks because there could be visits, there could be different twists. And he might visit somewhere else, I mean you don’t know. It’s just you have to monitor the next few weeks of how it goes. Certainly, it is a concern to a degree, but I wouldn’t put it high concern. I would just say slight concern as of right now.”
Blount expected on campus at FSU
Blount is expected to be on campus at Tallahassee the weekend of December 8 — a big visit weekend across college football.
“They’re really good at doing those details, FSU, of when the kids visit and the proper time,” Langston said. “I think we saw that a lot during the KJ Bolden recruitment. They really just set their visits up, still have an official with him. So I think they’ll do kind of a similar thing with Armondo — they’re going to make sure they protect themselves. But yeah they know that Miami is going to still battle until the end.”
