Florida State coach Mike Norvell confirmed Monday that Seminoles defensive back Ricky Knight has been suspended indefinitely. Knight was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary with assault or battery, one count of burglary of dwelling and one count of criminal mischief on Nov. 3, according to the Tallahassee Democrat.

Norvell gave only a brief statement confirming the earlier reports of Knight’s suspension. He did not elaborate any more than that, though it’s safe to assume the DB will be out for the foreseeable future.

“Ricky, he’s suspended from all football-related activities,” Norvell said.

Knight has been granted a pre-trial release but is not allowed to leave Leon County, the Democrat also reported. He will be monitored by a GPS tracking system.

Knight is a redshirt freshman who played in seven games for the Seminoles so far this season, most recently on Nov. 1 against Wake Forest. He recorded one tackle. Florida State’s depth chart for this week did not list Knight.

Ricky Knight played high school football at Cardinal Newman in West Palm Beach, where he was a four-star recruit. He ranked as the No. 341 overall player and No. 32 cornerback in the 2024 cycle according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.

Knight was a reserve player for the Seminoles, so it should provide an opportunity to the next man up to take the few reps he was getting. However, the depth of the cornerback room does take a bit of a hit as a result of his suspension as the program continues a downward trend. We’ll see what the future holds as far as the DB’s status with the team at a later date as he deals with the legal process.

Florida State is coming off of a 24-10 loss against Clemson this past week. It marked their fifth loss in the past six games following a 3-0 start as they fell to 4-5 (1-5 ACC) on the season.

Next up for the Seminoles is a matchup against Virginia Tech (5-4, 2-3) as they look to try to get their season back on track and at least make a bowl game. Kickoff for that game is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday and will be televised on ACC Network.
