Mike Norvell reveals Florida State's plan vs. Virginia Tech without Johnny Wilson

The Florida State Seminoles have been in a back-and-forth battle with the Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday night. The Seminoles currently lead 32-17, but the Hokies have found ways to make things uncomfortable for them at times.
At the start of the fourth quarter, ESPN’s Quint Kessenich caught up with FSU head coach Mike Norvell to discuss his team’s plan moving forward without Johnny Wilson, one of their star receivers that exited the game in the third quarter.
He brought his team around in a huddle at the start of the fourth quarter. What did he emphasize to his players?
“Well, I was just talking about our finish. We were doing a really good job there in the third quarter offensively and defensively. Obviously gave up the kickoff for a touchdown. But I thought our guys responded well. Gotta keep playing fast and physical. Go finish here in the fourth quarter,” Norvell said.
What can make the difference offensively without Johnny Wilson in?
“Just continue to go out there and make plays and I think we’ve done a good job of that. Obviously, we’ve got a lot of other guys that continue to step up. We’ve just got to go do it,” Novell said on Saturday night.
Johnny Wilson updated everyone on his status after the game
Florida State receiver Johnny Wilson seemed to be in good spirits after leaving Saturday’s game against Virginia Tech with injury. Wilson went down on the first play of the second half in an eventual 39-17 win and did not return.
Wilson stayed down for a number of minutes and needed assistance from the Seminoles medical staff in getting off the field. However, the redshirt junior took to Twitter following the game to offer a positive update on how he is feeling.

“I’m straight! Love these boys man!” he wrote.
Wilson is a valuable member of the Seminoles receiving corps, so Florida State will hope the injury isn’t long-term. He still ended up leading the team in receiving on Saturday despite not playing most of the second half, finishing with four catches for 54 yards and two touchdowns.
Redshirt junior Kentron Poitier replaced Wilson, making his first appearance of the season since the opener against LSU. He did not record any stats.
Wilson did not have a touchdown on the season entering Saturday’s game, so it was good to see him break out. He so far leads the team in receiving this season with 20 catches for 357 yards.
Wilson’s next chance to return to the field will come in Week 7 when the Seminoles take on Syracuse at home. Kick time for that game has yet to be announced.
