Peyton Prescott injury update: Florida State pitcher suddenly leaves game after emergency mound visit

Florida State RHP Peyton Prescott was on the mound in the bottom of the seventh inning during the final game of the Corvallis Super Regional. However, he suddenly exited with an undisclosed injury.
It’s unclear at this point what caused Prescott to come out of the game against Oregon State. His catcher, head coach, and their athletic trainer were out quickly to check on him, though, before he walked back to the dugout.
“Now here comes Link Jarrett and this is not a good sign for Prescott. Looks like the athletic trainer is coming out to the mound with the head coach for the Seminoles,” they said on the broadcast on ESPN2. “Prescott looked into the dugout and, when he did, that was a signal. Something’s not right.”
“Always a scary sight when a pitcher throws a pitch, trainer and head coach have to head out. He’s walking off the mound,” they added. “Terrible to see…It’s so sad.”
The ESPN2 broadcast continued to speculate and wish Prescott well after the sudden exit from the last game of the Super Regional. They had a few minutes to do so as LHP Connor Hults warmed up in the bullpen and on the mound to take his place.

“You feel for Prescott, who was so good last night. Had been trying to bounce back, trying to help his team any way he can with the season on the line for Florida State…Prescott, you see the live arm that he has and the high velocity that it can bring. And you’re just hoping it’s nothing serious. You’re hoping it was just a scare more than anything.”
“Yeah, that’s what we’re hoping for. That’s what everybodys hoping for for Peyton Prescott…Just got to hope everything is alright with him.”
Prescott exited after 1.1 innings with 10 balls pitched against the Beavers. He earned one strikeout and allowed one hit in that time against five batters prior to leaving the game. That’s after pitching 2.0 innings in the Game 2 win on Saturday, where he got four strikeouts and allowed no hits or runs to earn the save.
Prescott, a sophomore in his first season with FSU after transferring in from Jacksonville, appeared in 24 games for the ‘Noles. He, coming into tonight, was 5-0 with three saves by posting an ERA of 5.25 with 45 strikeouts.
