Peyton Prescott injury update: Link Jarrett admits he was sick to his stomach for FSU pitcher in Game 3

The Florida State Seminoles fell in the Super Regional to the Oregon State Beavers. That hurt, but for Link Jarrett what was worse was the injury to pitcher Peyton Prescott.
Prescott would leave the game after getting two outs and throwing just eight pitches with what appeared to be an arm injury. Always a major concern for pitchers, after Game 3 Jarrett shared he doesn’t know the full status of his injury yet, but he’s seeing an orthopedist.
“I hope so,” Link Jarrett said. “Our orthopedic doctor is with us, so that’s good. They’re doing some assessments and stuff like that. I hope he’s okay. You don’t ever like to see that. I’m quite frankly sick in my stomach right now in two areas. That being number one, the result being a close second, but it’s second.”
The first concern that comes with pitching injuries is always that it’s a ligament issue or that it could require Tommy John surgery. That would end up being an extraordinarily large loss for the Seminoles, even going into their offseason. For the time being, however, it’s not fair to speculate about the injury until Link Jarrett can give a clearer injury report.
A sophomore right-handed pitcher, Peyton Prescott has made himself incredibly valuable for the Seminoles. That comes after he transferred to Florida State after playing his freshman season at Jacksonville. There, he was named to the ASUN All-Freshman team and has acted as a two-way player.

In 2025, Florida State had Peyton Prescott focus on pitching, mostly coming out of the bullpen. There, he’d pitch in 25 games, making one start with three saves over 36.2 innings pitched. He’d finish his sophomore season with a 5.15 ERA and 46 strikeouts compared to 17 walks and a .290 opponents’ batting average.
In the Super Regional against Oregon State, Peyton Prescott made two appearances and pitched 2.2 innings before suffering the injury. He pitched incredibly well, too, with five strikeouts and zero earned runs allowed.
As a team, Link Jarrett saw his Seminoles battle in the Super Regional. They’d drop the opening game in extra innings before taking home a low-scoring second game. In their final loss of the season, Game 3 of the Super Regional, Oregon State jumped out to a 13-3 lead by the end of the third inning as the Seminoles struggled to find a pitcher who could stop the bleeding. Still, they’d fight back and make it a 14-10 game at the end. It was just too little, too late.
Now, Jarrett and the Seminoles turn their attention to the offseason. Hopefully, they’ll get a positive update on Prescott. Regardless, however, it’s clear work needs to be done to get the program back to Omaha.
