On3 has updated its recruiting ranking for the 2024 class following the first month of the high school football season. Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy five-star cornerback and Georgia commit Ellis Robinson IV is still the No. 3 overall prospect in the 2024 On300 after jumping up from No. 4 overall in On3’s previous ranking release.

The latest edition of On3’s 2024 rankings features 19 five-star players, up from 15 in the previous update in April. Of those 19 prospects, 17 are already committed to college programs, with five-star wide receiver Micah Hudson and defensive lineman David Stone the latest to come off the board to Texas Tech and Oklahoma, respectively.

The 6-foot, 175-pound Robinson committed to Georgia in early February over offers from Alabama, Miami, Florida State, Penn State and more. A big reason for that early commitment was defensive backs coach Fran Brown, who had previously been at Temple and recruited Robinson early in his high school career.

“He develops guys as good players overall, their technique with their eyes and watching film with those guys,” Robinson told On3’s Jeremy Johnson this summer. “Me and Coach Fran go back to like freshman year. I used to play at Iona Prep. It’s like right there, so it was easy going back and forth. That’s really where the relationship started.”

Robinson did however take official visits to both Miami and Alabama in June, and those programs will continue to work to flip him until National Signing Day in December. He has announced that he will not take any more official visits.

Ellis Robinson IV Scouting Summary

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power writes this about him as a prospect:

“Ball-hawking defensive back with elite length and ability to make plays on the ball as a high school underclassman. Dominated competition in New York’s Catholic league as a sophomore, bringing in eight interceptions. Made several impressive, acrobatic picks. Has advanced ball skills as a cornerback, which he pairs with outstanding length.

… Measured in at 5-foot-11.5, 169 pounds with a 6-foot-7 wing-span prior to his junior season. Also tests as a very good athlete, running a 4.56 second electronically-timed 40-yard dash. Transferred to IMG Academy for his junior season and should see an uptick in competition as a high school upperclassman.”
