FGCU baseball's mid-game roast attempt goes horribly wrong vs. Georgia

It was halfway through Friday’s college baseball game between No. 6 Georgia and Florida Gulf Coast, and let’s just say the Eagles social media team got a little bit excited. It looked as if a possible upset was going to happen, FGCU led 5-1 in the top of the fifth inning after they brought in five runs in the first inning. This is what sparked the FGCU social media team to talk some trash in a post that since has been deleted, “They supposed to be the SEC?”
It didn’t take long for Georgia to battle their way back into it, because in the bottom of the fifth inning they scored three runs after a home run from Dan Jackson and an RBI from Tre Phelps. In the ninth inning, FGCU managed to tie the game up at 9-9, after a triple from Evan Dempsey brought in the tying run.
Georgia would prevail victorious 10-9, and unfortunately for the Eagles, 11Point7 College Baseball Twitter account had the official receipts and screenshots of the original tweet from FGCU.
The No. 6 ranked Bulldogs had 15 hits in the win, with two home runs. FGCU had 11 hits with two home runs, and 21 total bases on Friday. Erik Parker scored the game-winning run for Georgia, on an error by the FGCU first baseman.

In the bottom of the fifth, Dan Jackson hit a solo shot for Georgia to cut the FGCU lead to 5-2. Then the Bulldogs’ Tre Phelps doubled to center field, bringing in another run, making the score 5-3. And once a wild pitch was thrown, Phelps came home and scored, making the cutting the Eagles lead to just one.
Harrison Povey was able to counter for FGCU in the top of the sixth inning, connecting on a two-run home run to push their lead to 7-4. But Georgia once again battled back in the bottom of the sixth, with Tre Phelps hitting a single that brought in two runs, giving UGA a 9-7 lead.
Up next for Georgia, they’ll face off against FGCU in a doubleheader on Saturday. So, the Eagles will get their shot at revenge.
