Georgia DB Chris Peal made a handful of appearances through his two years with the program. Ahead of his third, though, he has decided to transfer elsewhere.

Peal has entered his name in the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. That comes per reporting by On3’s Pete Nakos on Tuesday.

He’ll be doing so, though, coming off an apparent injury with health affecting his career there. Peal missed the team’s spring game as he was seen in a sling after he’d previously been seen in a black non-contact jersey earlier in the spring per reporting earlier this month by DawgsHQ.

Peal appeared in five games through a pair of seasons, with his first ending in a redshirt, in Athens. He played as a reserve for their secondary in a lone game in 2023 before playing in four in 2024. He’d finish with a pair of assisted tackles in those outings for the Bulldogs’ defense.

Peal, a Charlotte native, played his high school football at Providence Day School. He was the No. 167 overall recruit there as a four-star in the 2023 cycle. He also rated as the No. 21 CB and the No. 5 prospect out of the state of North Carolina. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Peal would then commit to UGA, and Fran Brown at the time, and over schools like Michigan, NC State, and South Carolina, to be part of their No. 2 class in ’23.

Now, Peal will be the latest departure of the spring portal cycle for Georgia. WR Nitro Tuggle (Purdue) along with RB Branson Robinson and IOL Marques Easley have also entered during this period over the past week. Those four now make for a total of 18 losses to the portal in this offseason for the Bulldogs. However, Georgia is still up to nine additions by transfer after a trio of same-day signings of RB Josh McCray (Illinois), DL Joshua Horton (Miami), and LB Elo Modozie (Army) on Sunday.
