Kirby Smart reveals what excites him the most about this Georgia team

All eyes are on the Georgia Bulldogs this college football season as the masses will wait and see if they can repeat as national champions for a third consecutive season under Kirby Smart.
The Bulldogs will look a little different this year with a new quarterback under center and various other players being looked upon to step up more than they ever have this upcoming season. And with kickoff just a few days away, Smart revealed what excites him most about this year’s squad.
“What excites me about this team is the maturity level, the approach they’ve taken to their work,” Smart said. “So we had an offseason workout program, we had a spring practice which I was very pleased with, we had summer workouts which I was very pleased with, we had camp that wasn’t our very best camp but we also had a lot tougher circumstances than we’ve ever had at camp. I can say that we’ve had better practices, but we’ve never had 110 degree heat either.”
Yet again Georgia had one of the shortest offseasons in the country, but that’s just a product of them playing all the way through the first week of January for a second consecutive season through the national championship game.
But despite this, it sounds the like Bulldogs have made the most of their time this offseason, as Smart detailed what it’s been like working with the team day in a day out leading up to the first game of the year.

“So I’m very excited about like every day you go to work with this group they’re fun to be around because they actually listen to what you say and they try to do it like you say it. That’s important, I mean who you are intangibly is really important and they’ve done a great job with that,” Smart said. “Now, still gotta transition to the field and to games.”
Georgia had 10 players selected from the team in this year’s NFL Draft, losing a slew of high level talent. But after ranking as one of the top three recruiting classes in the nation the past four seasons and proving in the past they can develop talent, there’s no doubt that the Bulldogs could be poised for yet another postseason run this year.
Their journey towards another ring starts this Saturday, as Georgia takes on Tennessee-Martin in Athens at 6:00 p.m. ET.
