Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Nakobe Dean appears to be a sure bet to be taken in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Dean is currently at the NFL Scouting Combine, where he shared a great message about leadership.

Dean said that he learned a lot about leadership from former Georgia defensive coordinator and new Oregon head coach Dan Lanning, and also admitted that he knows he will have to earn the trust of his future teammates.

“Leadership ain’t got an age,” Dean said at the NFL Combine. “Coach (Dan) Lanning used to always say if you’re good enough, you’re old enough. So I feel like you’ve just got to gain the respect of guys and the trust of guys. And you’ve got to know who you’re playing with. Know your personnel. You can’t treat everybody the same way as far as getting on them. So of course I’ve got to come in, earn my respect. I don’t think I’m going to go in and be looked at as a leader. That’s something I’ve got to earn and get that trust from them.”

Dean is one of the top linebackers available in the 2022 NFL Draft. In ESPN NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper’s latest mock, Dean is selected 22nd overall by the Las Vegas Raiders. Most other mocks have Dean in the top 20, with him even reaching as high as the top ten in the eyes of some experts.

Dean shared a hilarious moment with Georgia teammate earlier at NFL Combine

Earlier at the NFL Combine, Dean’s Georgia Bulldogs teammate, Channing Tindall, stepped up to the podium. Dean decided to take his place among the media, and he had a pretty important question for Tindall.

“I got a question, I got a question,” Dean said. “Are you, Nakobe Dean and Quay Walker best friends?”

Tindall responded with a strong “Yes,” and then was followed up by Dean saying, “Go Dawgs!”
