Vegas insider has predicted odds for win totals on all Power Five conference teams throughout college football. The reigning national champion Georgia Bulldogs, despite losing a chunk of their production to the NFL over the offseason, is expected to keep their momentum going with an over/under of 10.5 wins.

Only three other programs are expected to hold the same odds. Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State. No Power Five team has a higher over/under.

Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart knows that his squad is a long way from being the dominant national championship-caliber squad they were in January. To Smart, this spring has been promising with his young blue-chip prospects

“There was some really good accountability in terms of holding each other accountable this spring that I was shocked by, that I was like, man, there’s going to be a void in leadership, how can we create leadership opportunities,” Smart said. “And from the day one they were pushing each other, they were cheering each other on the sideline.

“I’m like, man, it’s almost like they wanted to emulate those other guys. I’m talking about from a leadership standpoint now. They can’t emulate what some of those guys do on the field. They can emulate the standard, though … they had a great attitude, they worked really hard today and we made it tough, and they did it. We’re going to have to have a little different personality. We’re going to have some grit, some toughness because it won’t just be talent. We were really talented last year, and not that we’re not talented now, but we’re going to have to win in different ways.”

Georgia has lost the combined production of Travon Walker and Devonte Wyatt, who compiled 72 tackles and 8.5 sacks this past season, as well as Jordan Davis, the Chuck Bednarik Award winner, which is given annually to college football’s best defensive player, among others.

Overall, the Bulldogs saw five of their 11 starting defended — in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft alone. Three more would be selected over the three-day NFL Draft slate. Eight of Smart’s 11 starting spots on defense up for grabs heading into the offseason, and many returning Bulldogs look to emulate the major success their predecessors achieved last season.

“Looking out there this spring, you recognize the unit we had [last season] was really special,” Smart said. “They left a mark, like they left a standard across the board, the seniors and juniors that left early. They kind of showed the other guys how to do it and sometimes that’s contagious.”
