New Mexico OF Jordy Oriach commits to Georgia out of NCAA transfer portal

Georgia has picked up its third commitment from the Transfer Portal in New Mexico junior outfielder Jordy Oriach. He announced the move on X Wednesday afternoon.
Oriach was one of the best stories in all of Division I baseball this season, as he hit for a stellar .388 average with 25 doubles, two triples, 16 home runs and 63 RBI after transferring to New Mexico from Frank Phillips College (NJ-CAA). He was 64Analytics.com‘s No. 66 overall hitter in all of DI this season.
The Haverhill, MA native joins New Orleans grad transfer right-handed pitcher Grant Edwards and Seattle junior left-handed pitcher Kenny Ishikawa as the first three incoming players in Georgia‘s portal class. The Bulldogs now have the No. 1 ranked transfer portal class, once again according to 64Analytics.com.

Oriach split his time this season playing outfield and DHing for the Lobos. Along with being named a 2x Mountain West Player of the Week, he was named a Second Team All-Mountain West Selection. He’ll now be headed to a re-loading Georgia program that fell in the Athens Regional.
In Wes Johnson’s second season, the Bulldogs finished with a 43-17 (18-12) record and were led by Mississippi State transfer third baseman Slate Alford, UNC Asheville transfer right fielder Robbie Burnett, Baylor transfer shortstop Kolby Branch and Kentucky transfer center fielder Nolan McCarthy. Johnson has shown to load up his teams through the portal, and this offseason appears to be no different.
