4-star shooting guard Blue Cain commits to Georgia Tech

Four-star Blue Cain has committed to Georgia Tech for the class of 2023, he tells On3.
The 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic ultimately chose the Yellow Jackets over Yale. He also considered Virginia Tech and Wake Forest but received offers from Tennessee, Syracuse, South Carolina, and others.
Cain is ranked as the No. 104 overall prospect in the class of 2023, according to the On3 Consensus — a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3’s evaluators are even higher on Cain, ranking him 84th in the class.

Cain becomes Georgia Tech’s first commitment to the 2023 class. In 2022, Josh Pastner and Co. landed SG Freds Pauls Bagatskis from Latvia, as well as two transfers — Lance Terry (14.3 PPG) from Gardner-Webb and Javon Franklin (12.2 PPG) from South Alabama.
Cain on his commitment to Georgia Tech
“I had a great relationship with the coaching staff,” Cain said. “On the official visit, they showed endless love, and I loved the way they did things on and off the court. It’s a family over there. It just felt right on the visit.
“They run a lot of ball screens with fluidity, and they play fast,” Cain said to On3’s Jamie Shaw. “I fit with that.”
Scouting Summary
“Blue Cain has a smooth feel for the game. He plays at his own pace and doesn’t get rushed to get where he is going. Cain has a solid handle as a secondary ball-handler. He shows a confident pull-up jump shot in the half-court and consistent form in catch-and-shoot situations. You would like to see him continue getting stronger and play with more urgency, but he has explosion at the rim and does take contact well in the paint. Cain’s father, Chris, played golf at Duke, thus where his name Blue came.” – Jamie Shaw, On3’s National Recruiting Analyst
