Jamal Haynes injury: Georgia Tech RB exits to locker room after leaving vs. Virginia Tech

Georgia Tech running back Jamal Haynes exited the field and is being evaluated for an apparent shoulder injury prior to halftime against Virginia Tech.
Haynes was seen walking to the locker room without his jersey or shoulder pads. ESPN’s Coley Harvey provided some insight as the clocked ticked down in the second quarter, while the Yellow Jackets trailed the Hokies.
“Some bad news right now for Georgia Tech,” Harvey stated. “Running back Jamal Haynes, during Virginia Tech’s scoring drive, ran into Georgia Tech’s locker room, and then he came back out a few moments after and did not have his shoulder pads on. Athletic trainers were evaluating his left shoulder, as I was standing just behind the bench. He had a towel over his head.
“Then, right as that happened, he ran back into the locker room. So, we do not see Jamal Haynes right now. We’ll keep an eye on it.”

On the season, Haynes has rushed for 551 yards and eight touchdowns, so he’d be a huge loss for Georgia Tech if he can’t go. Last season, Haynes rushed for 1,059 yards and seven touchdowns for Georgia Tech, and he seems to be well on his way towards quadruple digits again in 2024.
Prior to heading into the locker room, Jamal Haynes rushed for 54 yards on 11 carries. We’ll see if he can return to the game against the Hokies.
