4-star IOL Demetris Dean commits to Houston

Jasper (Texas) four-star interior offensive lineman Demetris Dean has committed to Houston, he announced on Sunday evening.
He chose the in-state Cougars while also holding offers from Texas A&M, Baylor, Missouri, Texas Tech and more.
Dean is the No. 315 overall prospect and No. 23 IOL in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 49 player in Texas.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder is now the highest-ranked member of the Cougars’ 2025 recruiting class. Willie Fritz now has nine prospects in the mix this cycle ahead of his first season at the helm of the new Big 12 program.
Houston adds major in-state commitment
Dean is now the eighth in-state commitment a part of the Cougars’ 2025 class. He’s also the lone four-star and the first offensive lineman to join the fold.

Lutcher (La.) three-star EDGE Rashad Sterling is a top-600 recruit and top-50 player at his position. He committed on April 10 and was one of two additions that month, alongside Mansfield (Texas) Summit three-star defensive lineman Travis Buhake.
Other top commits in the class include Richardson (Texas) Berkner three-star linebacker Richmond Ugochukwu, Missouri City (Texas) Ridge Point three-star quarterback Austin Carlisle and Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair three-star tight end Wyatt Herbel.
Last cycle, Houston signed the No. 62 class in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Bellaire (Texas) Shadow Creek three-star safety Maurice Williams headlined the signees as the lone top-500 recruit in the On3 Industry Ranking.
