Indiana is set to hire Tennessee assistant coach Rod Clark to Darian DeVries’ staff, On3 and The Hoosier’s Alec Lasley reported. He spent the last four seasons on Rocky Top under Rick Barnes.

Clark was a key part of Tennessee’s staff, helping the Volunteers to back-to-back Elite Eight appearances. He also played a role in helping players such as Kennedy Chandler, Julian Phillips and Dalton Knecht hear their names called in the NBA Draft.

Clark began his coaching career at the prep level at Wichita (KS) Sunrise Christian Academy before joining Luke Yaklich’s coaching staff at Illinois-Chicago. He spent one year at UIC before heading to Austin Peay for the 2020-21 campaign. From there, Barnes called him to come on board at Tennessee.

Rod Clark is the latest piece in place for Darian DeVries, who makes his way to Indiana after one year as the head coach at West Virginia. DeVries also brought Nick Norton with him from WVU along with Cincinnati assistant Drew Adams. Former IU assistant Kenny Johnson is also making his way back to Bloomington under DeVries.

The Hoosiers have been active in the transfer portal as they build out the roster, adding 10 players so far this cycle. The top commit so far for IU is DeVries’ son, Tucker, who followed him from West Virginia after the two joined forces at Drake.

Tucker DeVries is the No. 20-ranked player in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings and missed most of the 2024-25 season due to injury. During his time at Drake, he won the Larry Bird Trophy as the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year and will now look to lead the charge under his father at Indiana.

Former Davidson forward Reed Bailey and former Sam Houston State guard Lamar Wilkerson are also on their way to Bloomington as the No. 38 and No. 39-ranked player, respectively, in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings. That gives Indiana three Top-40 ranked transfers as DeVries settles in for his first year.

As a whole, the Hoosiers’ class of transfer additions ranks No. 9 in the On3 Team Transfer Portal Index. Most recently, they secured a commitment from former North Florida forward Josh Harris.

As a freshman this past season, Harris started all 30 games for North Florida while averaging 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. That helped him earn a spot on the ASUN All-Freshman Team, and he became the No. 130-ranked player in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings.
