2025 LB Will Hawthorne commits to Iowa State Cyclones
Gilbert (Iowa) three-star linebacker Will Hawthorne announced Thursday afternoon that he has committed to the Iowa State Cyclones.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Hawthorne chose the in-state program over Nebraska, which he officially visited in June.

Hawthorne is the nation’s No. 905 overall prospect, No. 95 linebacker and No. 9 recruit from Iowa in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He is the 14th recruit to join Matt Campbell’s 2025 recruiting class. Five other commits besides Hawthorne hail from the state of Iowa: four-star quarterback Alex Manske, three-star EDGE Jack Limbaugh, three-star wide receiver Xzavion Robinson, three-star interior offensive lineman Will Tompkins and safety Ethan Stecker.
