Iowa State's Tamin Lipsey Out 4-6 Weeks

Iowa State standout point guard Tamin Lipsey is expected to miss 4-6 weeks due to a right knee injury he suffered in practice.
Cyclones coach TJ Otzelberger told The Field of 68 it was a fluke injury that occurred when two players were battling for a rebound, and one came down on the back of Lipsey’s leg.
Lipsey battled multiple injuries a year ago that limited his effectiveness, but Otzelberger said he’s not concerned this one will affect his play.
“He’s a warrior,” Otzelberger told The Field of 68. “He’s a student of the game and will be heavily involved even though he won’t be able to practice. He’ll do everything he needs to do from a recovery standpoint and I fully expect him to be 100 percent for the start of the season.”
Lipsey has been an integral part of Iowa State’s success the last few seasons. He’s started 103 career games, is an elite defender and averaged 10.6 points and 3.1 assists a year ago despite playing hurt for much of the season.
Iowa State opens the season on Nov. 3 against Fairleigh Dickinson.
The Cyclones are 63-32 in Lipsey’s three seasons in the program and have gone to three consecutive NCAA tournaments.
