Kansas wing Rylan Griffen plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal

After one season at the University of Kansas, junior guard Rylan Griffen has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned.
Griffen transferred from Alabama to play for the Jayhawks after the 2023-24 season, choosing Kansas over a host of other schools. He was ranked as top-20 prospect in the transfer portal by On3, but never lived up to the high expectations during his time in Lawrence.
Amidst an extremely deep guard/wing group, Griffen averaged just 6.3 points and 2.1 rebounds while playing just over 20 minutes per contest.
He saw his shooting and scoring numbers decline across the board from his sophomore season, too. After knocking down 45 percent of his attempt and 39 percent of his 3-pointers with the Tide, Griffen shot just 37% from the field and 33% from behind the arc with the Jayhawks.
His free throw shooting dropped precipitously as well, as the Jayhawks struggled to one of their worst Big 12 seasons under head coach Bill Self.
The Dallas (Texas) native will now enter the portal for a second time, hoping to find a better fit for his final season of eligibility. Griffen was the No. 44 overall recruit in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He chose the Crimson Tide at that time over offers from Arkansas, Kansas, Auburn and dozens of other programs.
