Status of Kansas guard Remy Martin revealed before Iowa State
According to CJ Moore of The Athletic, Kansas Jayhawks point guard Remy Martin will not play on Tuesday night against the Iowa State Cyclones. He is still dealing with a knee injury. However, he did travel with Kansas up to Ames.
Martin transferred into the Jayhawks program this offseason, hoping to be one of the best scoring point guards in the Big 12. So far, he has averaged just over eight points per game, adding around three rebounds, and three assists a game.
During the blowout loss to Kentucky, Martin was only able to play in 14 minutes after averaging 24.2 in his 16 appearances. Tuesday will be the third game the point guard misses this season. Martin did not appear against George Mason, West Virginia, and the first matchup against Iowa State.
Martin not the only Kansas Jayhawks player out on Tuesday
Kansas got dealt a big blow on Tuesday ahead of its matchup with Iowa State. Jayhawks leading scorer Ochai Agbaji didn’t make the trip to Ames.
Agbaji entered COVID-19 protocols, according to multiple reports citing a school spokesperson. He averages 20.9 points per game on 51.5% shooting this year to lead the Kansas offensive attack.

In Kansas’ last game against Kentucky, Agbaji tied with Christian Braun for a team-high 13 points as the Jayhawks fell to the Wildcats 80-62 at Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday. As Kansas tries to get back on track against Iowa State, it’ll have to do it without Agbaji.
The Jayhawks are 17-3 overall this year and 6-1 in Big 12 action. They’re getting ready to take on an Iowa State team that’s 16-5 overall, but 3-5 in conference play. That game tips off Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
