Kansas linebacker Bangally Kamara was ejected for targeting Saturday in the Jayhawks’ game against Cincinnati. He will now miss the first half vs. UCF next week.

Safe to say, Kamara wasn’t a fan of the call. He reportedly tossed his helmet according to the good folks at Jayhawk Slant.

Kamara is a sixth-year senior and was expected to be a big time contributor all season long. He spent four years at Pitt and last year at South Carolina.

Coming into the game, Kamara had 16 total tackles, five tackles for loss, 1,5 sacks, one forced fumble and a pass deflection. Kamara set career highs in 2023 with Pitt as he accumulated 55 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, one pass deflection and one fumble recovery.

As a member of the Class of 2020, Kamara was a three-star recruit out of Akron (Ohio) East High, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He was the No. 17 overall prospect in the state, the No. 46 safety in the class and the No. 632 overall prospect in the class.

At the time of this writing, Kansas and Cincinnati were tied 27-27 with 4:02 remaining in the third quarter. Not having Kamara will be a huge factor for the Jayhawks’ defense.

Kansas and head coach Lance Leipold came into the game 3-1 on the 2025 season, halfway to bowl eligibility. They defeated West Virginia 41-10 last weekend to rebound after a loss to Missouri.
