Kansas releases hype video for Week 1 narrated by Chris Harris, Jr.

There hasn’t been this much excitement around the Kansas football program in several years. The Jayhawks enjoyed a highly successful 2022 campaign which they started out 5-0, behind the electrifying play of dual-threat quarterback Jalon Daniels. He’s back this year and he’s once again expected to be one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in all of college football. Jayhawk fans are pumped for Friday night’s matchup against the Missouri State Bears. On Thursday evening, KU football dropped a hype video to pump fans up for Week 1 of the 2023 college football season. It’s narrated by former Jayhawk star, Chris Harris, Jr.
Check it out below.
Chris Harris, Jr. cemented a legacy as one of the best defensive players in Jayhawk history during his time in Lawrence. He played there from 2007-2010. During his career there, he racked up 198 solo tackles with three interceptions in 50 total games. He also helped guide Kansas to an 8-5 overall record in 2008 and a 42-21 win over Minnesota in the Insight Bowl. The highlight montage includes some of the other greats in KU football history, including quarterback Todd Reesing and cornerback Aqib Talib.
Kansas fans got something else to look forward this offseason, as the Jayhawks unveiled some new uniforms for the 2023-2024 campaign. There aren’t too many changes with the uniforms. The Kansas font on the front of the uniforms is much, much bigger. Then they added some striping on the shoulders of the uniforms. They also moved the numbers from the sleeve to the shoulder pads. If you want to check those out, you can find those here.
Kansas football has many reasons to be excited for the upcoming season
On the field, the Jayhawks will look to make yet another statement during head coach Lance Leipold’s third season in Lawrence. He led the team to their best season in over a decade last year. Kansas hosted College GameDay after they got off to one of the best starts in school history (5-0). But their electrifying signal-caller, Jalon Daniels, suffered a shoulder injury and the Jayhawks lost six of their last seven games.
KU still earned a berth to the Liberty Bowl, their first bowl game appearance in over 10 years. And it ended up being one of the better games of the college football season.

Daniels has been named the Big 12 Preseason Offensive POY ahead of the 2023-2024 season and rightfully so. Even with his shoulder injury last year, he threw for 2,014 passing yards, tossing in 18 touchdowns while throwing just four interceptions.
As a runner, he had 77 carries for 419 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Simply put, he’s one of the most dynamic players in the country and he’s the straw that stirs the drink for the Jayhawks’ football program. They’ll only go as far as he takes them.
Kansas and Missouri State are set to kick off on Friday night at 8:00 PM EST. The game will be played in Lawrence, Kansas. A group of four talon T-38 jets will flyover David Booth Memorial Stadium about 10 minutes prior to kickoff.
