Dylan Edwards injury update: Kansas State RB's status for Arizona game revealed in report

Kansas State star running back Dylan Edwards has been cleared to play against Arizona Friday night, per ESPN‘s Pete Thamel. Edwards has missed the last two games due to an ankle injury he suffered in K-State’s 24-21 loss to Iowa State in their Week 0 clash in Dublin.
Edwards was injured before he could even record a carry in the season opener. Last season, the Derby, Kan., native rushed for 546 yards and five touchdowns.
Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman first revealed that Edwards could possibly suit up on Friday during Monday’s press conference. But Klieman was non-committal.
“He’s not practicing today, and that’s a concern for him moving forward,” Klieman said. “I know that we don’t do injury reports this week because it’s not a Big 12 game, but he wouldn’t be listed as ‘out.’ He’s probably in that questionable-to-doubtful range.”
Edwards’ return comes at a perfect time for a reeling Kansas State team, which opened the season with a 1-2 record after being considered one of the preseason favorites in the Big 12. After losing to the Cyclones to kick off the season, K-State used a game-winning touchdown with 42 seconds remaining to hold off North Dakota 38-35, but was then upset by Army 24-21 last Saturday afternoon.
In Edwards’ place, sophomore running back Joe Jackson currently leads the team in rushing with 136 yards on 30 carries. He rushed for at least 50 yards in K-State’s first two games of the season, but was held to just 30 yards in the loss to Army.

Although he was 100% injured in the season opener, some Kansas State fans accused Edwards of pulling himself from the game. He had to take to social media following the loss to dispel the rumors.

“For the doubters close to me and out of reach, I’d never be a person to quit on my teammates or do anything of that nature for attention and pride. If you truly know me, you know that I am a competitor that loves the game of football,” Edwards wrote. “I am truly disgusted and disappointed to the people that are sending hate messages and making fake theories about my character.”
“I will be back. God makes no mistakes. The Rejected Will Be Respected,” posted Edwards with the 100 emoji.
He was a highly rated recruit when he arrived at Colorado in 2023, ranked as the No. 181 overall player and No. 11 running back in the cycle according to the On3 | Rivals Industry Ranking (an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services). The Buffaloes leaned heavily on the passing game that year, but he still led the team with 321 rushing yards and a touchdown before entering the transfer portal.
Now, after missing the last two games, Kansas State‘s (arguably) most important offensive weapon is back.
