Report: Kansas State safety Qua Moss plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
Kansas State safety Qua Moss is entering the Transfer Portal. CBS Sports‘ Matt Zenitz first reported the news on Thursday morning.
Moss spent this past season at Kansas State after transferring from West Georgia. In his lone season as a Wildcat, Moss recorded 41 tackles, five TFL, three pass deflections, two interceptions, and one sack.
Moss’ move to enter the Portal comes just one day after head coach Chris Klieman announced that he would be retiring. Texas A&M offensive coordinator and former K-State great Collin Klein is rumored to be filling the position.
The West Point, GA native played in all 12 of Kansas State‘s games this season. His best game came in the Wildcats’ opener against Iowa State in Dublin, as he recorded four tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble.
Although K-State opened the season ranked No. 17 in the country, it lost its opener to Iowa State and never quite looked like the College Football Playoff contender it was projected to be preseason. The Wildcats finished the season at 6-6, their worst mark since the 2020 season (4-6).

Chris Klieman retirement will be a factor in multiple Kansas State transfers
A disappointing season, along with prioritizing health and wanting to spend more time with his family, prompted Klieman to step down following Kansas State‘s season-ending win over Colorado on Saturday. Klieman led the Wildcats to a 54-34 record across seven seasons.
“After many deep and thoughtful conversations with my family, we have decided that the time is right for me to retire from coaching,” Klieman said. “This decision was not taken lightly and was the culmination of many factors, including my own personal health. I absolutely love coaching the game of football and developing players into young men, but now is the time for me to step away and spend more time with Rhonda and our three kids.”
“I truly am thankful to Gene Taylor for trusting me with this program in 2018, and we have accomplished many great things, including winning the 2022 Big 12 Championship. K-State will always be a special part of our family’s story, and we will forever be Wildcats.”
Moss, who was a junior, will have one season of eligibility remaining.
