North Florida head coach Matthew Driscoll is resigning to become Kansas State‘s associate head coach under head coach Jerome Tang, per CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander. Driscoll spent 16 seasons as North Florida’s head coach.

While at the helm of the Ospreys, Driscoll amassed a 248-264 record and a 143-118 mark in conference play. He led the program to two regular-season conference championships and one ASUN Tournament title.

The Ospreys made the NCAA Tournament once (2014-15) during his tenure, but ultimately lost in the First Four. Driscoll is a three-time ASUN Coach of the Year, receiving the award in 2015, 2016 and 2020.

Before taking over at North Florida,Matthew Driscoll was an assistant at Baylor from 2003-09. During his time with the Bears, Driscoll worked with Tang, who was an assistant coach at Baylor from 2003-22. Driscoll’s primary responsibilities were on-court development, scouting, recruiting and administrative duties.

He’s also coached at Clemson, Wyoming, LaRoche College and Slippery Rock. Driscoll should provide a wealth of knowledge to Kansas State’s staff. In 2008, Driscoll was rated as one of the top 10 assistants in the country in a FOX Sports survey.

Matthew isn’t the only Driscoll joining Kansas State’s staff. Kansas State announced its hire of Matthew Driscoll’s son, Chase, last week. Chase will be the program’s director of video and analytics.

“I’m incredibly honored to join the Kansas State men’s basketball program and grateful to Coach Tang for the chance to be a part of his winning culture built on hard work and accountability,” Chase Driscoll said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to live life with the staff and the people of Manhattan. I am looking forward to helping our team prepare, compete, and win at the highest level. Ready to get to work!”

The Driscoll family will have their work cut out for them in the 2025-26 campaign. Kansas State posted a 16-17 record this past season, the team’s worst since Tang took over in 2022. Worse, the Wildcats went 9-11 in conference play, finishing ninth in the Big 12.

Tang and Co. have been hard at work this offseason to avoid a similar fate in the upcoming year. Kansas State has added five players this offseason via the NCAA Transfer Portal. Most notably, the Wildcats reeled in a commitment from Akron transfer Nate Johnson, who is the No. 14 shooting guard in On3’s 2025 Transfer Portal Player Rankings.
