Cutter Boley injury update: Kentucky QB shaken up after tackle vs. Georgia

Cutter Boley was left hobbled after a hard tackle on the sideline during the third quarter against Georgia on Saturday. The Kentucky QB had been rolling out to his right and tried to get out of bounds before the hit came.
Boley was slow to get up after the hit. The play resulted in a fourth down for the Wildcats, so Boley remained on the sideline. However, he stayed down on the sideline for a moment while UK athletic staff tended to him.
Before the drive, UK’s medical team had been working on Boley’s neck, which appeared to be causing him some pain. Though, he came in to start the drive.
Boley did shake it off and was back in the game for the following drive to begin the fourth quarter. Though, the Wildcats already trailed 35-7 at the time.
Kentucky does have Zach Calzada available despite appearing on the injury report all week. Calzada started the first three games of the season for the Wildcats before they turned toward Boley midway through the Ole Miss game. He’s started every game since.
In the end, Calzada did not enter the game for the Wildcats. Boley would finish the game completing 25-41 passing attempts for 225 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. His first touchdown throw came on a 29-yard strike to tight end Josh Kattus in the first half. His second didn’t come until after he was shaken up, finding Kendrick Law for a tip-toe touchdown.

The touchdown throw would be too little, too late, as the Wildcats would lose the game 35-14. The loss drops Kentucky to 2-3 on the season, and 0-2 in SEC play. Kentucky is 1-10 against SEC competition since the start of last season.
Boley’s 41 passing attempts against the Bulldogs on the afternoon is a career-high. Coming into the game, he had 43 passing attempts across three appearances during his redshirt freshman season.
For the Bulldogs, the three-touchdown win over the Wildcats was exactly the statement victory they were looking for after lass week’s loss to Alabama at home. They’ll look to continue that trend against their rival, Auburn, next week.
Kentucky will get a chance to regroup next week, as the Wildcats are on their bye during Week 7. After that, they’ll welcome Arch Manning and Texas to Lexington during Week 8. They’ll wrap up the month at home against Tennessee the following week.
