WATCH: Daimion Collins hurdles three players in Kentucky's Big Blue Madness dunk contest

College basketball is not too far away. Plenty of teams across the country have held their opening events, officially kicking off the 2022-2023 college basketball season. The Kentucky Wildcats got things started on Friday night with their Big Blue Madness event. In the dunk contest, sophomore forward Daimion Collins had the second most impressive dunk of the evening. The 6-9, 210-pound forward cleared three players–Sahvir Wheeler, Kareem Watkins, and Walker Horn for an epic throwdown.

Last season, Collins averaged 2.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.1 assists per game. He led the team in blocked shots in seven games and also pumped in three double-digit scoring efforts. The Texas native had a career-best four blocks in his home debut against Robert Morris.
If he keeps making plays like that dunk in an actual game, look for him to make a serious impact on the floor this year for the Wildcats. That’s some really, really impressive athleticism right there.

Daimion Collins was an exceptional athlete coming out of high school and put up some impressive numbers
According to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2021 cycle, Collins was rated as a five-star prospect and the No. 15 overall player in America. His stats coming out of Atlanta High School (Atlanta, Texas) were what you’d expect out of a five-star prospect. He stuffed the stat sheet with 35.2 points, 14.4 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 6.2 blocks per game his senior year.
Collins racked up the accolades, earning Texas Gatorade Player of the Year honors. He was also named to the McDonald’s All-American Game, the Jordan Brand Classic, and the Allen Iverson Roundball Classic. Known for his jumping ability, he also competed as a high jumper in track and field his senior season. He won the district and regional titles in that event.
