Shamar Porter looks to be leaving Kentucky for good this time after re-entering his name into the transfer portal.

Porter, who just finished his first and only season in Lexington, entered the portal as a freshman back in December. However, after less than a week, he withdrew his name. Now, after looking like he’d be back as a redshirt freshman, he is again set to transfer from the bluegrass.

Porter did not record any receiving statistics this season with the Wildcats.

Porter, a native of Nashville, Tennessee, played high school football at Ensworth. He was a four-star prospect there as the No. 285 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranked as the No. 40 WR too as well as the No. 5 player out of his state.

Porter came to Kentucky as the top overall recruit in their No. 32-ranked recruiting class. That’s according to On3’s 2023 Industry Football Team Recruiting Rankings. He was the only commitment out of the 19 that was in the Top-300. In total, he was one of five four-stars for them within the Top-400.

Porter is now the 20th transfer from the Wildcats over the course of the offseason, including one of the first in the spring window. 13 of those are offensive players, which comes after the program had to hire a new offensive coordinator. He is the sixth pass-catcher to hit the portal along with Dekel Crowdus (Hawaii), Raymond Cottrell, Darius Cannon, and Ardell Banks along with TE Izayah Cummings (Louisville).

As for additions, Kentucky has picked up 10 transfers. They make up the No. 15 class per On3’s 2024 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. Eight of those are on offense with three pass-catchers in a pair of receivers with Ja’Mori Maclin (North Texas) and Fred Farrier (UAB) while also retaining TE Jordan Dingle.

Porter is another receiver in Kentucky’s corps that has second-guessed his portal pick coming out of the spring. Now, barring another surprising change of heart, it looks as though he will officially be leaving the program this time around.
