Will Levis is going to be a first round draft pick. That came as a surprise to some members of Big Blue Nation when the way-too-early 2023 NFL mock drafts were released, but experts have stayed true to that notion. Now, four games into the season, ESPN’s Todd McShay and Sean McDonough explained why draft scouts are so high on the Kentucky superstar.

Levis’ arm strength, mobility, his level of physicality and his overall leadership abilities have skyrocketed him up draft boards and slotting him among the top quarterbacks in the country. Add in a pro-style system under OC Rich Scangarello – and McShay says Levis is really starting to pick up his game through four games this season.

He also points out that not a single person in Lexington has anything negative to say about him. His work ethic, his intangibles, the way he attacks the process – all of that is recognized and it’s paying off on the field.

“If you’re looking forward to the NFL Draft, which we’re talking a lot with Levis is that, it’s CJ Stroud from Ohio State, it’s Bryce Young from Alabama, and then kind of the other guys,” McShay said. “It’s not the case when you talk to people in the NFL. It’s Stroud, Levis, Young, maybe in that order. Some people I’ve talked to in the league have Levis as the No. 1 quarterback in this class.

“I just think the narrative needs to get out there because it’s different from what is really happening right now. I think people have to know that this guy is legitimately a potential No. 1 quarterback in this class.”

Even Kentucky’s opposition don’t have anything negative to say about Kentucky’s star quarterback.

“We were with the Ole Miss coaches this morning, they were raving about him,” McDonough said. “Obviously they don’t know him as a guy, but the parts of it that Todd talked about, the football parts, fans can evaluate a lot of that on TV. But the way they talk about him as a leader and as a person, and his work ethic and competitiveness is way beyond what we typically hear.”

The Rebels and their defense will take a crack at doing what no one has been able to do all season – stop Will Levis. Only once this season has Levis thrown for under 300 yards, and that was against Florida where he was still able to leave Gainesville with a victory.
