Louisville Cardinals head coach Jeff Brohm turned to Deuce Adams at quarterback on Saturday against SMU. This came as starter Miller Moss was unavailable. It didn’t go well, though, and the Cardinals only put up six points in a blowout loss.

After the game, Brohm shared that he didn’t know if Moss would be available or if Adams would start again for Louisville. Instead, that’s something that they’ll have to figure out throughout the week before taking on rival Kentucky.

“I do not know yet,” Jeff Brohm said. “We’ll see how this week of practice goes.”

Deuce Adams was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2024. He was the 586th-ranked player overall and the 37th-ranked quarterback in that recruiting class. The game against SMU wasn’t his first action in a game, but it was his first start, and he did struggle at times during the game. He’d complete 12 of 17 passes for 94 yards. On the ground, he had 14 rushing yards.

Brohm also noted that Adams wasn’t Louisville’s only issue during the game. The Cardinals struggled around him, making it harder for him to play at his best.

“I think Deuce is still a young quarterback. If we play good around him, I think he can do some things. He’s still got to progress,” Brohm said. “But he’s got some talent. He worked hard this week. We just weren’t able to make any play. Didn’t have answers to many things, and when we did, they sure didn’t work.”

In the end, Louisville lost its third straight game. However, this was their first game that they lost by more than one score all season long. Still, it’s enough to effectively take the Cardinals out of the race for the ACC.

Miller Moss, the team’s starter for the majority of the season. The hope is that he’ll be able to return for the Kentucky game. However, for the time being, the exact nature of his injury still isn’t clear.

When he has been able to play this season, Moss is completing 64.3 percent of his passes for 2,344 yards and 11 touchdowns to seven interceptions. He also has eight rushing touchdowns on the year. Adams is second on the team in passing with 112 yards. The only other quarterback who has seen action this season is Brady Allen. He has 75 passing yards to go along with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Louisville will play host to Kentucky next Saturday. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. EST.
