Kasean Pryor injury update: Pat Kelsey believes Louisville forward is ‘on pace’ in recovery

The Louisville Cardinals had their depth tested early in the 2024-25 season when forward Kasean Pryor was lost for the season due to a knee injury. Now, with the 2025-26 season around the corner, head coach Pat Kelsey is hoping to see him return to the court.
This came after Kelsey recently met with the media. There, he praised how Pryor has been rehabbing and shared that he’s where he needs to be currently in his recovery.
“Great,” Pat Kelsey said. “Yeah, great. From a medical standpoint, he’s on pace. Probably even ahead of schedule. You’d have to talk to Katie about that. Typically, that’s a nine to 12-month thing, and he’s exactly where he needs to be.”
Kasean Pryor began his career at Boise State. There, he spent two seasons, appearing in 13 total games. After that, he would spend one season at Northwest Florida State and one season at USF before transferring to Louisville.
In seven games at Louisville last season, Pryor made three starts and averaged 23.3 minutes per game. In that time, he’d average 12.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. Defensively, he had 1.1 blocks and 1.6 steals per game. That came a season after he averaged 13 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game at USF.

It was during the Battle 4 Atlantis Championship in late November when Pryor went down with a torn ACL. That forced Pat Kelsey to turn to his team’s depth throughout the season in what was already a rebuild. Still, Louisville turned things around relatively quickly, going 27-8 and making it to the NCAA Tournament.
Given how well Kasean Pryor has been rehabbing, it’s no surprise that Pat Kelsey is happy with the team’s medical staff. In particular, he made a point of praising the team’s associate athletic trainer Katie Creznic.
“Always acknowledge Kate the Great,” Kelsey said. “You saw the article a couple of weeks ago in the paper about her. She’s special. She’s doing an unbelievable job with him and he’s busting his tail.”
Louisville has some major games early in their non-conference schedule for the 2025-26 season. That includes on November 11th with a home game against the Kentucky Wildcats. The Cardinals are also set to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in the ACC/SEC Challenge on December 3rd. Hopefully, Kasean Pryor is going to be back on the floor by the start of the season.
