Nick Saban predicts Miller Moss, Jeff Brohm will be a lethal combination for Louisville

Jeff Brohm has turned Louisville football around so far in his short tenure. But can they compete to win the ACC in 2025? Nick Saban certainly thinks so.
Saban’s X-factor for the Cardinals lies under center with new quarterback Miller Moss. An experienced transfer coming in from USC, Moss could be the key to Louisville getting over the hump and finding themselves in Charlotte at the end of the regular season.
“Miller Moss ends up at Louisville with Jeff Brohm, which is going to be a lethal combination because of the way he uses quarterback and Miller Moss’s ability,” Saban said on College GameDay. “This is going to be fantastic.”
Moss spent four years at USC and had a decent season as a full-time starter. However, he only played nine games last year. He finished with 2,555 yards, 18 touchdowns, nine interceptions and a 64.4% completion percentage.
While Moss was in Los Angeles, Brohm was taking Louisville to a 10-win season in 2023 and nine wins in 2024. They were ranked inside the top 15 in both seasons, but have failed to find themselves in the conference championship in each of those years. In 2025, Saban feels as though the Cardinals are ready to take the next step.

“I think they got a legitimate shot, I really do,” Saban continued. “They’ve got a good football team, but you never know. There’s so many changes, positive changes of leadership, culture changes. But I think they’re going to have a shot.”
Moss will be paired with running back Isaac Brown, who is one of the top running back prospects in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft cycle. Brown ran for over 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns for Louisville in 2024 and is considered one of the fastest running backs in the country. He was also active in the receiving game with 30 receptions last season. Brown and Moss will look to make a connection early and often this fall.
Tweaks and improvements throughout Louisville’s roster point toward Louisville being one of the top teams in the ACC this season. The Cardinals will begin that effort against in-state foe Eastern Kentucky on Saturday.
Louisville is a five-touchdown betting favorite according to BetMGM, which sheds light on the type of season they’re expected to have with Moss under center. They’ll also take on the likes of Miami, Clemson and SMU down the stretch, meaning they’ll have multiple opportunities to prove themselves against the best the conference has to offer.
