Bobi Klintman, 2022 four-star, commits to Maryland

Bobi Klintman, a 6-foot-8 small forward out of Malmo (Sweden) Sunrise Christian has committed to Maryland basketball for the class of 2022, he tells On3.

Bobi Klintman on why he chose Maryland
“When I went on a visit there, I just felt like everything was a little bit different,” Klintman said. “They’re in the Big Ten, which is a really good league. They’re a successful team too, and they make it to the tournament almost every year. My goal is to get to the next level, and I feel like Maryland can help me with that. I like the coaching staff and they’ve had experience with players like me and my position…and they’ve had players go to the NBA like Aaron Wiggins and Kevin Huerter. So I feel like they’ll know how to develop me. When I left the visit, I was like ‘yep, I want to be here.'”
What was the coaching staff’s recruiting pitch to Klintman?
“Just the success they’ve had with my position and the way I fit into the program,” Klintman said. “They play four out so everybody has the ball in their hands and they play pretty fast too. And they’re not really a big team either, so they play a lot of small ball. I like to play fast pace so I think it was a good fit for me. They have Danny Manning, who’s one of the greatest… I would call him a Hall-of-Famer…I think he can develop me, just from an individual skillset.”

What does Klintman expect his role to be as a freshman?
“Well starting is something you have to earn,” Klintman said. “I feel like I could come in and…if I get some minutes…help the team. I’m not a selfish player, I like to pass the ball. I just want to help the team win.”
How does Klintman describe his game?
“I’m a versatile, big guard,” Klintman said. “I can play the two, three, or even the one. But I’m most comfortable playing the two and the three. I’m a good shooter and I’m pretty athletic too.”
