“They are keeping the South Florida guys home,” Blount told On3. “The culture they are building stood out as well.”
Blount took six visits to Coral Gables, including trips at the end of July and a game visit on Sept. 9. He took in the Hurricanes’ huge win over Texas A&M inside an electric Hard Rock Stadium. Playing for Mario Cristobal and bringing back the old Miami peaked the interest of the elite lineman.
“Now that I’m getting to be around them more, it’s the culture they’ve got,” Blount said of the Canes. “They’re bringing back Miami kids. Coach Cristobal’s recruiting kids from here, so that’s something I like too, because I want to play with people who are from where I’m from. If Cristobal pulls all of the recruits from South Florida, hey…”

Blount kickstarts Miami’s potential for a big 2025 cycle
The addition of Blount is major for the Hurricanes. He’s currently the highest-ranked commit Cristobal has landed at Miami and is now the third pledge in Miami’s 2025 class, joining Boynton Beach (Fla.) Palm Beach Central four-star wide receiver Waden Charles and Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton quarterback Luke Nickel.
“I’m close with coach Cristobal, (Jason) Taylor, Joe (Salave’a), Sab (Joseph) and the O-line coach,” Blount said. “They plan on using me on the whole defensive line.”
“Blount had a dominant sophomore campaign at Miami Dillard, showing advanced pass rush skills as a stand up rusher,” wrote On3’s Charles Power of Blount. “He’s also excelled in track and field as a top thrower, posting a personal best shot put toss of 55-6 feet this spring.
