Cam Ward emotional, thankful after Miami wins on Senior Day: My family is 'the reason why I'm here'

Cam Ward and the Miami Hurricanes advanced to 10-1 on the season via a 42-14 victory over Wake Forest on Saturday afternoon.
Afterward, the Miami star quarterback spoke with ESPN’s Quint Kessenich, where he described the emotions he felt playing in front of his family on Senior Day for the Hurricanes, and what it meant to get the dub once again.
“Just trying to play my last game at home, you know, for them,” Ward said, regarding his emotion. “What they sacrificed for me, just financially, and just giving me the confidence to show myself to the world, you know, they’re the reason why I’m here, so just glad to get a win.”
Ward certainly made his family proud on Saturday afternoon. He completed 27-of-38 pass attempts for 280 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also made a bit of history, becoming the Hurricanes’ single-season passing yards record-holder.

Still, Ward and Miami are far from satisfied with their offensive performance. While they pulled away with 22 points in the fourth quarter, the quarterback recognizes there’s work to be done.
“Just not sticking to the process offensively,” Ward said, regarding the Hurricanes’ struggles. “Bad play on my end on third down. We had a couple of drops. We had a couple of miscues, all around. We know we’ve got to be better, but you know, at the end of the day, we got a win.
“We’ve got a chance. to you know, win again next week and hopefully get to the championship.”
If Cam Ward and Miami can compete for another win next weekend against Syracuse, they’ll lock themselves into the ACC title game. The goal is a national title, and the team has their eyes on the prize at the moment.
