As Miami continues it season and puts win after win together, the Heisman Trophy campaign for quarterback Cam Ward is beginning to pick up with full steam ahead.

The Hurricanes’ social media team has been actively plugging away for Ward, who is one of the most dynamic athletes in the country.

“I loved what the media team did. They showed me the stuff about a week ago, their ideas, everything they wanted to do around Miami stuff,” Ward explained. “But I mean it’s a blessing that I’m in this position, especially with the media team, creative team that we have. It’s going to continue to do good things for myself and the team.”

Ward has certainly earned the hype.

Not only is Miami off to an 8-0 start and now considered the favorite to win the ACC, Ward has put up Heisman Trophy type numbers this season. He’s done it against every level of competition, too.

Ward began his campaign with a 41-17 dusting of rival Florida, and things have only continue to improve from there. He threw for 385 yards and three touchdowns in that win, and that’s the kind of performance Miami has come to expect from him.

On the year, Ward is 191-of-281 passing for 2,746 yards and 24 touchdowns, against just five interceptions. He’s also run for 186 yards and three touchdowns.

Despite that, the Heisman Trophy caliber quarterback is treating the hype and press with humility.

“It’s just a blessing. It doesn’t bother me,” Ward said. “At the end of the day you’ve got to make football plays to get where you want. My goal is not to be a Heisman Trophy winner, my goal is to win football games and play for a national championship. So I’m just trying to stick to that and stick to my teammates and hopefully we get a win this week.”

Miami will be back in action this week against a quality Duke squad, in a game that kicks off at noon ET on ABC. The Heisman Trophy campaign for Ward will continue then.
