Mark Fletcher Jr. honors late father after scoring touchdown vs Duke

Miami led Duke 46-31 midway through the fourth quarter, and the game started to feel out of reach when they handed the ball to Mark Fletcher Jr. to score the team’s seventh touchdown on the day.
For the second straight week, Fletcher has been able to honor his late father, who died last week before the Florida State game, with a touchdown. This time he fell to his knees and pointed toward the sky in a moment that his family won’t soon forget.
The one-yard scoring rush was certainly a feel-good moment inside Hard Rock Stadium.
Fletcher nearly finished as the team’s leading rusher during the contest, rushing for 65 yards on 12 carries and the lone touchdown to cap off Miami’s victory. He was behind fellow tailback Damien Martinez, who had 11 touches for 66 yards.
Mark Fletcher also ran for 71 yards and another touchdown against the Seminoles, where he similarly pointed toward the sky after taking a knee during the contest.
“[It was] just a shout out to my dad, paying him respect,” Fletcher Jr. said last week. “It’s been a long time since he’d seen Hard Rock this packed. I know he would have loved this, this energy out here, all the seats were taken up. I know he would have loved it. So, I did this for him.”

The victory improved Miami to 9-0 on the season, and with three games left on the season — an undefeated regular season looks to be a legitimate possibility.
Miami DB Jadais Richard carted off during Duke game
Miami defensive back Jadais Richard made a big play in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game against Duke. Unfortunately, he was also injured on the play.
Richard suffered what appeared to be a right leg injury after picking off Duke quarterback Maalik Murphy. He stayed down for several minutes before being helped to the sideline while unable to put any weight on his leg.
Jadais Richard was later taken off the sideline on a cart.
