Miami LB Adarius Hayes released from hospital after fatal crash

Miami Hurricanes linebacker Adarius Hayes has been released from the hospital, per the university. This comes following a two-car crash that left three dead and at least two others injured.
Adarius Hayes was one of the two drivers in the crash. All three who died in the crash were in a Kia Soul, which collided with a Dodge Durango in Largo, Florida, on Saturday. That was the vehicle being driven by Hayes. The dead include an unnamed 78-year-old woman, a 10-year-old Jabari Elijah Solomon, and a 4-year-old Charlie Herbert Solomon Riveria. There was another passenger who suffered injuries.
“Police say Hayes was driving the car involved in this crash, which now has claimed three lives. No charges have been filed as of now as the investigation is ongoing, cops say,” Andy Slater of FOX Sports 640 posted. “I’ve learned that Hayes had been involved in two other crashes in recent history and had been ticketed on at least seven different occasions. Cops alleged he was going 80mph on US-1 in Miami just a few weeks ago, also once raced with another car on the highway at 90+, and another time almost sideswiped a police car.”
Police are currently investigating the crash. No charges or tickets have been filed as of now. Largo Police public information officer Megan Santo also said on Sunday that there were no signs that either driver was impaired.
“We are deeply saddened to learn the crash resulted in three fatalities, as confirmed by Largo Police, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those lost,” the Hurricanes said in a statement.

Adarius Hayes played his high school football at Largo. There, he was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2024, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 175th-ranked recruit overall and the 12th-ranked linebacker in his recruiting cycle. At the time, On3’s Cody Bellaire shared his thoughts on Hayes in a scouting report.
“Physical inside linebacker at his best as a downhill run stopper. Has a taller stature at around 6-foot-3 and has added considerable mass over his high school career. Has unverified weight, but looks to be closer to the 220 mark than his previous verified 210 pounds. A prolific tackler, racking up over 375 stops in his high school career. Quick processor and shows a quick trigger when moving downhill,” Bellaire wrote.
“Seeks out contact and looks to detonate on defenders. More than willing to throw his body around. Stops ball carriers in their tracks when they meet in the hole. Plays with a level of violence. Also effective as a blitzer. Has some tightness in his hips and can improve his overall athleticism and ability to play in space. Lacks verified athletic markers. Older for the cycle, turning 19 years-old in November of his senior year.”
As a true freshman in 2024, Hayes saw action in 12 games. That included becoming a key player on special teams. He finished with four tackles and an interception.
