Tim Tebow wants people to realize that Miami QB Carson Beck is elite, despite what some might say. He had a collegiate career resurrection in Coral Gables after transferring from Georgia, at least through three games.

Beck played well with the Bulldogs, but there was a perception that he wasn’t on the upper tier of college quarterbacks following the 2024 season. Couple that with his elbow injury and Beck was a forgotten man among the elite quarterbacks in the sport.

“But why not call him elite? Like, are we just trying to be haters? Like, come on, this dude’s absolutely elite,” Tebow said on SportsCenter. “Look at him in 2023 and last year it wasn’t quite as good. But now look at the way he’s got a command of his offense. Look at his ball placement, look at what he’s doing on third downs, look at the lack of turnovers, like he is playing at an elite level. I don’t care which area you want to talk about, if it’s the leadership, if it’s command of the offense, if it’s confidence, by the way, he’s in a new system, and he looks like he’s been in it for five years.

“This is a young man that a lot of people wanted to drop and criticize last year, but I think we need to take a look at his body of work and say, ‘Hey, he’s played at a very high level for a long time, and this year is just no different.’”

Through three games this season, Beck has 812 yards, seven touchdowns, two interceptions and a 79.3% completion percentage. Safe to say, he’s stepped up his game.

Head coach Mario Cristobal actually backed up Tebow’s claim, unintentionally. He said Beck didn’t have all the pieces in place at Georgia in 2024.

“Three games in, we feel awesome about the progress. I mean, when you watched him on film, ’23 was a phenomenal year, and ’24 he did have a good year, but the pieces weren’t quite in place like he had them in ’23,” Cristobal said during a Friday afternoon appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. “(Georgia’s offensive) scheme kind of morphed into something different.

“And we felt that with our offensive line, our skill players, our running game and then surrounding him with a certain type of environment that he could really thrive. The guy’s a competitor, he’s an awesome, awesome teammate and he’s a natural leader. So far it’s working out pretty well.”
