Tyler Van Dyke leaves game, goes to locker room after suffering injury against Duke

Miami football just underwent a disastrous turn of events. While trailing the Duke Blue Devils 14-7 in the second quarter, Hurricane quarterback Tyler Van Dyke went down with a shoulder injury and wound up leaving the field and heading to the locker room.
Van Dyke dropped back to pass and was ambushed on his blind side by two pass rushing Blue Devils. One of them executed a perfect form tackle from behind on Van Dyke, bringing both players to the ground as Van Dyke smacked his shoulder against the field while also fumbling the football.

So, to recap: Tyler Van Dyke suffered a sack, possibly a major shoulder injury, then fumbled to top it off. All on the heels of Duke having scored two straight touchdowns thanks to a fumbled Hurricane kickoff. When it rains, it pours, so the saying goes.
Update: Van Dyke in X-ray room
After Van Dyke hustled off the field and into the locker room, the Hurricane medical team got a hold of him to evaluate the issue. One of their first courses of action was to take him to the X-ray room to evaluate what his actual injury was.
That report came from Tim Reynolds on Twitter: “WQAM says Tyler Van Dyke is in the X-ray room.”
There you have it. More updates to come on TVD.
