4-star wide receiver Germie Bernard flips to Michigan State

Henderson (Nev.) Liberty wide receiver Germie Bernard signed with Washington last month, but he chose not to enroll after changes on the Huskies’ coaching staff. Sunday, he announced that he has instead committed to Michigan State.
Bernard is the No. 223 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 36 wide receiver and the No. 5 prospect in Nevada.
He was the Huskies’ second-highest ranked signee in the 2022 class. Bernard chose Washington over offers from Penn State, Michigan, Oregon, Miami and others. He committed to Washington’s previous staff under head coach Jimmy Lake in July. And he later signed with the team on the first day of the Early Signing Period.

His position coach, Junior Adams, was retained by new head coach Kalen DeBoer, but news broke earlier this week that he would be taking the same position at Oregon.
Michigan State remained in the mix, and the Spartans pounced on an opportunity to land another four-star prospect. With the addition of Bernard, Michigan State’s 2022 class jumps up four spots to No. 23 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. MSU has also added a quartet of transfers with EDGE Khris Bogle, linebackers Aaron Brule and Jacoby Windmon, and running back Jalen Berger.
