Mel Tucker comments after huge victory over Michigan

Mel Tucker and the Michigan State Spartans made a statement today against their in-state rivals. With the stakes higher than ever, the Spartans defeated the Michigan Wolverines 37-33 — propelling to 8-0 and the leaders of the Big Ten East.
The star of the day was Kenneth Walker III. It should be no surprise, as the running back has been the star of the season for the Spartans. He was the heart and soul of the Michigan State offense, rushing for 197 yards and five touchdowns on the day.
The atmosphere in East Lansing was amazing, and Tucker took it all in following the victory. After taking a moment to enjoy the thrill of victory, Tucker told FOX’s Jenny Taft about how proud he was of his Spartans.
“I tell you what — it was unbelievable. We’ve got great fans, they were a factor in the game. I told you that our guys were not going to quit. They just kept playing, body blows, body blows, body blows … and we got it done,” stated Tucker. “Credit to our players, our coaches, we had great fans. It was unbelievable, and that was a great win for us.
“It’s a big win for the whole state of Michigan, all of our fans all across the country, around the world. This is a big game, this is a big win. I’m proud of our guys.”

Tucker’s second season at Michigan State has been memorable. No matter what happens over the next month, this victory will live on for Spartans fans everywhere.
Michigan State: What’s next?
Tucker must ensure the Spartans remain motivated over the next two weeks, as they face off against two teams they should handily defeat. First, they travel to face the Purdue Boilermakers. Then, the Maryland Terrapins come to town.
After a reprieve, Tucker’s Spartans end their season with tough games against the Ohio State Buckeyes and Penn State Nittany Lions. If they can get through unscathed, Michigan State may be impossible to keep out of the College Football Playoff.
For now, Mel Tucker and the Michigan State Spartans will continue to enjoy a hard-fought victory over their biggest rivals.
