Michigan State defensive back Dillon Tatum enters NCAA Transfer Portal

Michigan State cornerback Dillon Tatum has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. He spent the past three seasons with the Spartans, amassing 62 total tackles and eight passes defended.
He seemed primed to take a step forward in 2024. However, the defensive back suffered a season-ending injury during Michigan State’s season-opening clash with Florida Atlantic. He played in 21 snaps.
Moving forward, Tatum will be hoping to stay healthy and perform with his next team, while Jonathan Smith now has a major hole at cornerback. It remains to be seen where both sides go from here, but they’re divorcing, with Tatum entering the portal.
Dillon Tatum played high school football at West Bloomfield (West Bloomfield, MI), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 306 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Jobe has played two collegiate seasons at two programs — Michigan State and then Kansas. He has posted 11 total tackles in eight games played over that time for the Spartans and Jayhawks. Nine of those came this season as a sophomore pass rusher in Lawrence.
Jobe, a native of Senegal, first began playing football after moving the United States and living with a host family as a teenager. He’d eventually suit up in high school at Community Christian School in Norman, Oklahoma, where he’d become the No. 69 overall prospect there as a four-star recruit in the 2023 cycle.
He also rated as the No. 10 EDGE in the class and the No. 1 recruit out of the state of Oklahoma. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. That made him the Spartans’ top-ranked signee in the 2023 recruiting class.
Jobe was one of 36 players to leave Michigan State last offseason after the coaching change to Jonathan Smith. He was the second-most significant loss after only DL Derrick Harmon (Oregon). That’s per the On3 Industry Ranking of 2024’s Top Transfer Portal Players, which rated Jobe at No. 121 overall and as the No. 15 EDGE.
