Michigan State QB Aidan Chiles plans to enter Transfer Portal
Michigan State Spartans quarterback Aidan Chiles plans to enter the Transfer Portal, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. This will be his second time transferring as he makes this move with one year of eligibility left.
Coming out of high school, Chiles was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2023. There, he was the 160th-ranked player overall and the 12th-ranked quarterback overall. Chiles is a native of Downey, California.
Aidan Chiles began his career at Oregon State. He spent one season there in 2023, before transferring to Michigan State. Following head coach Jonathan Smith to East Lansing, Chiles would become the starting quarterback for the Spartans over the past two seasons.
During his two seasons at Michigan State, Aidan Chiles would play in 21 games for the Spartans. He completed 60.8 percent of his passes for 3,807 yards and 23 touchdowns to 14 interceptions. That was 181.3 yards per game. He had 452 rushing yards during that time and nine rushing touchdowns. All of that came after he had a promising freshman season at Oregon State.
The two seasons that Jonathan Smith and Aidan Chiles were at Michigan State were difficult for the program. Neither season would lead to a bowl game and they went a combined 9-15, though the five wins from 2024 would be stripped by the NCAA, leaving Smith at 4-15 during his time there. At the end of his second season, Smith would be fired and replaced by Pat Fitzgerald. Now it appears there are going to be some massive changes coming to the Spartans.

Changes coming to the Transfer Portal
This offseason, the Transfer Portal is going to have a new look. In turn, it’s also expected that changes will come in how both players and teams approach using the portal.
There is now only one Transfer Portal window, the Winter window. The Spring Window has entirely been removed, so no players can enter following Spring practice. Meanwhile, the Winter Window was moved from December to January, with the hopes that this would alleviate concerns about the calendar in December. It was also adjusted down to just 10 days. This came after the Division I Football Oversight Committee voted to do so. The NCAA Division I Administration Committee initially only approved the move of the window and later approved the decision to shorten it as well.
The Transfer Portal will now open on January 2nd. It will stay open through January 16th. During that time, players will be able to officially enter.
