Adam Schefter details timeline of events that led to Sherrone Moore firing at Michigan, arrest
Due to allegations that could not be ignored, Michigan fired Sherrone Moore with cause on Wednesday. Now, with how that has reportedly played out since that news came down yesterday afternoon, ESPN’s Adam Schefter has shared the latest on what’s going on in Ann Arbor.
To open ‘Get Up’ on Thursday morning, Schefter spoke on the latest details regarding Moore. He reiterated much of the reported information out there, while also being the next insider to say that this has unfortunately been trending this way, at first due to rumor, but eventually with investigations, for a while with this decision by the Wolverines.
“Well, the school gathered together the coaches yesterday afternoon, the players to inform them of Sherrone Moore’s firing. The school fired him for cause, and, obviously, there are so many layers to this that are sad, troubling, disconcerting, and cautionary,” Schefter said. “Essentially, after his firing, he wound up being detained by police. He spent the night in Washtenaw County Jail. He’s being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
“Now, if we go back, there had been lots of whispers and speculations about various gossipy, salacious items with the school here dating back weeks, and I believe the school looked into these situations and found no evidence whatsoever of any wrongdoing. But, if the school is going to take a step on Wednesday that it did, and announce that it is firing Sherrone Moore for cause, and saying he had an inappropriate relationship with a staffer, then, clearly, something this week developed that the school felt like it had irrefutable evidence, and was left with no other choice.”

This situation will continue to be reported on, with details still forthcoming in the firing of Moore, as well as the legal issues now for him, and in the coaching search at Michigan. Simply put, though, it’s clearly a very sensitive and delicate matter ongoing right now for the maize & blue.
“You are in a situation where Michigan fires the first black head coach in the school’s history, somebody that helped that school win a national championship. A man who just had another child this summer, and he’s married, has three daughters, and this family is obviously going to be subjected to things now you couldn’t even imagine. This man’s life, professionally, personally, was upended yesterday,” Schefter said. “It’s a sad story in so many ways, and we are going to continue to learn more and more about what led up to this and what transpired after he was fired for cause.”
